The Guwahati-Bikaner Express(15366) from Patna to Guwahati derailed near Mynaguri in Bengal on Thursday evening at 5PM. At the time of the accident the train was traveling at a speed of 40 KM/hr. as a result, four compartments of Bikaner Express overturned. So far six people have been killed and 15 are seriously injured in the accident. Railway sources said in the Guwahati-Bikaner Express had 700 passengers. Two teams of NDRF have been deployed at the accident site to rescue the passengers. As many as 50 passengers have been rescued so far and many more are still trapped in the compartments. For now all trains on this route are closed.
Railway Minister twite he has given details to the PM about the Mynaguri Train accident. He said “our primary goal is to rescue everyone”. According to thr railway authorities, the families of the dead will be compensated Rs 5 lakh, those who have been seriously injured will be compensated Rs 1 lakh and those who have suffered minor injuries will be paid Rs 25,000.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on twitter that she was shocked by the train accident in North Bengal. She further said that the state government officials, the district magistrate, the superintendent of police, the IG of north Bengal are monitoring the situation and rescue operation. The injured are being treated quickly. PM Modi seeks details of the accident from CM Mamata Banerjee. The Ministry of Railways has ordered a high level inquiry into the cause of the accident.
