The selectors have selected the Indian women’s cricket team for the ODI World Cup. The captain of the team is Mithali Raj. As expected, there are three Bengal cricketers in the team. Jhulan Goswami, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma.
India will also play five ODIs against New Zealand before the World Cup. India will play five ODIs against the Kiwi women’s team in New Zealand in preparation for the World Cup. The matches will be played on February 11 (Napier), February 14 (Nelson), February 16 (Nelson), February 22 (Queenstown) and February 24 (Queenstown). As the Women’s One-Day World Cup is being hosted in New Zealand, the Indian team is looking to get ready to arrive in New Zealand a long time ago. That is why Team India is going to play a five-match ODI series against New Zealand.
India will also play a T20 match against New Zealand. India will start their tour of New Zealand on February 9 with a T20 match in Napier. However, the selectors have chosen a separate team for the T20. Harmanpreet is the captain of that team. There are no seniors like Mitali or Jhulan in the team.
India’s World Cup campaign is starting like the men’s T20 World Cup. Because, women’s team will face Pakistan in the first match. The match will be played on March 6 in Tauranga. India’s opponent in the next match is New Zealand. The match will be played in Hamilton on March 10. India will face West Indies on March 12 in Hamilton. The rest of the matches are England (March 16), Australia (March 19), Bangladesh (March 22) and South Africa (March 27).
